Hello my friends;
The last time we spoke, it was Father’s Day. Where have I been, you ask? I ask too. Mostly hibernating, teaching my mom to use her air fryer, listening to my mom talk about how amazing the air fryer is, and pointing out to my mom that I’m the one who told her to buy the air fryer. What can I say… once you go air fryer, you become insufferable.
In between those conversations, I taught myself how to cross stitch and made my own Holiday cards:
But that hasn’t left me a lot of time for writing this newsletter. And I’ve missed it.
I hope you have too, because it’s in your inbox.
Valentine’s Day is coming up and (maybe you know) it’s my favourite “holiday” for which to bake. Gimme some pink and red cupcake liners from Dollarama or a tin that says “I love you a waffle lot” and there’s a picture of a waffle, and I’m in heaven.
Maybe it’s just the puns I like.
Regardless, I want to share with you a recipe I made just last week, that I think SCREAMS “Why won’t you love me!?!”
Okay… maybe that’s the wrong message. But it has all the components to send lovers (potential and otherwise) into a paroxysm of lust. And if you want to fly solo, hey… you still gotta eat.
Get ready, for the Olive Oil Chocolate Chilli Doughnut.
These doughnuts are much like love itself. The chilli doesn’t hit you right away. It’s a warming in the back of the throat. And at first it’s just enough to make you say “hmmm… what’s that?” Then it starts to spread, into your body, down into your tummy, and you feel ALIVE!
Combined with the richness of the chocolate, you start to wonder how you lived before now! And as you lick your lips, getting the last few morsels, you’re already dreaming about your next sweet encounter.
Who needs other people, when you have a good doughnut?
Is there a particular brand of chilli infused olive oil you buy? Are they all considered equal. I don't want to kill anyone with too much heat. ;)
Missed you Ms Jan! You're a gem and your newsletters are always a fun read! Brightening up a very dreary January!
